1. Attention-getting ads have been shown to increase sales.
Every day, or even every hour, how many commercials do you hear? There are thousands of ads in magazines, in newspapers, on TV, and on the internet. Advertising bombarding us are few and far between, and few make an impact. Can you stand out from the crowd with your advertising message?

Even my dog knows….”
Unexpected: “Use for 30 days free…”
Ask a thought provoking question: ”
“Use headlines that will grab their attention.”

2. Make it Personal
How many times have you been caught up in the automated phone service cycle? Yes, you pushed 15 numbers and ended up back at the main menu without ever speaking with a sales rep. People crave face–to–face interaction in the marketplace. Look for ways to make your business a more personal experience for your customers. Learn a little bit about the people who come through your doors. Let those who visit your website know a little bit about you. Yes, it is easier to trust a single person than a large impersonal corporation… and trust is essential for attracting a large number of repeat customers.

3. Draw a Picture
Finally, the end of a hectic week has arrived! My mind wanders to the many things that will demand my attention this weekend as I lock the doors on a still cluttered office. I just want to get away from the demanding voices…get away to the waters of the lake across town. It would be heaven to sit in the back seat of a boat and watch the sea gulls dip and dive while the waves rocked me peacefully to sleep. When the clang of metal alerts me to the fact that I’ve dropped my keys, I can almost hear their splashing.

Put your customers on the boat. Yes, painting word pictures that evoke their emotions will be more effective than simply stating the benefits your product provides. Describe what the benefits will do for them vividly and in great detail…make them salivate for the end result. Paint your way to a sale!

Consider this…

The three tactics we’ve discussed thus far are concerned with human emotions or behaviors rather than your product itself. Yes, when we affect the inner part of the customer, our sales are likely to skyrocket… And, hey, they’ll feel good while they’re writing the check! What else could you want?
